Ayodhya: The Yogi government engaged in the development of Ayodhya has achieved a major achievement. With the capacity to generate 40 MW of electricity through solar energy, the city of Ayodhya has now been declared as a model solar city.
Under the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy 2022, the city of Ayodhya has been recognized as a model solar city. Under this policy, a solar city has been defined as a city where a minimum reduction of 10 percent in the estimated total demand of conventional energy can be achieved by setting up renewable energy plants. In this sense, the city of Ayodhya has developed double the capacity.
Estimated demand in the city is 198 MW
Reportedly, the estimated demand of Ayodhya city is 198 MW, in comparison to its 10 percent i.e. about 20 MW, the capacity of the solar power plant has become 40 MW. The work of setting up and commissioning of this solar plant has been completed within the stipulated time period.
The plant has been set up by NTPC Green Energy Limited in village Majha Rampur Halwara and village Majha Sarairasi near the Saryu river.
Solar power project declared after being set up
For the establishment of this solar power project, 165.10 acres of government land has been provided by the state government to NTPC Green Energy Limited on lease for 30 years at the rate of Rs 1 per acre per year. A 40 MW capacity solar power project has been set up here. The energy produced from this project will be purchased by UPPCL for 25 years at a tariff determined on the basis of cost plus. As a result of the establishment of a 40 MW solar power project, Ayodhya city has been declared a model solar city.
